The Foundation of Image Therapy

This month’s action step: Write down “I am a Masterpiece…” along with what you see every day.

As we are preparing for the holiday season, I’d like to remind everyone how blessed we are in so many ways. You might ask yourself how does this relate to this month’s Lianaism? In order to be proud of something, we need to be aware of it. You may start by a small awareness, like the thought of gratitude.

When we train ourselves to think about our blessings, to honor ourselves and other people, or take pride in those things which are special about us and others, we rewire our brain. On the other hand, when we focus on faults, or create more criticism, we reinforce negative thinking.

We always have the ability to choose what we think, to choose the people in our lives, and most of all to choose our attitude.

My invitation to you is to choose wisely. So again, I invite you to “Be proud of your assets, not ashamed of your flaws”.

In this section, I highlight someone who has experienced the work of Image Therapy and the powerful transformations that are made through this work.

At a recent event, Monica and I are on stage and she’s a little hesitant (as you can see in her face) about me handing her a new item. The green dress, which I’m holding in my hands, is perfect for her yet she is completely questioning my offer to her. This is normal for anyone who is just stepping into the world of Image Therapy. It’s normal because you’re being invited to take a look at something that is completely outside of your purview.

As this little story continues you shall see how the after plays out and how happy she was with this beautiful dress.

For now, my suggestion to all of you reading this, is close your eyes for a minute, take a deep breath, and when you open your eyes tell me what is the first thing you see in this picture, is it Monica’s face or is it the blue and white striped dress?

It will most probably be the dress :-). My wish for all of you is that your face shows up rather than the outfit. So please apply one of the Lianaisms which states: “If the outfit shows up before you do, put it back!”

Anytime you have an opportunity to step into the unknown, especially if it makes you feel uncomfortable, step into it! Try something new especially when a mentor or someone you respect is offering you a new possibility… you never know the blessings of what’s possible.

Take a look at this gorgeous green dress on my beautiful client. The neckline is in the prefect spot. The color makes her skin and her eyes glow, the waistline is in the right place, her beautiful curves show up fully and are in the best proportion to her body type, the sleeve cap is in the right place, the hemline hits her leg at the perfect spot… all in all, she looks like $1 million AND at least 15 pounds lighter.

This is what the process of Image Therapy can do for you. Empower yourself by learning what looks right on YOUR body!

This way, in every moment, you get to show up in all your beauty, your presence and your strength. Remember, “Be proud of your assets not ashamed of your flaws.” Dressing authentic to who you are does just that, it teaches you to emphasize your assets and not be disempowered by focusing on what doesn’t work.

Congratulations Monica, it is such a joy to witness your transformation. Thank you for being open to blossoming in learning how to show up as your most authentic self.
